Our guided motorcycle tour is a product of motorcycling passion and love for our native country’s beauty of which we have chosen Transylvania to extensively research and show you. We have chosen the greatest roads to ride and great hotels to stay in. All these are filled with a lot of history, unspoiled nature and traditional delicious meals. We personally accompany the tour including a support vehicle, allowing you to ride unencumbered.

We will have briefs for each day with interesting things to see and do, detailed maps and road notes and night destinations. We also have a dedicated support vehicle that we set up specifically for the needs of our tour with puncture repair kits, tools, first aid kits. We also provide space for carrying your side panniers if you want to travel lighter and space for one bike and person in case of an accident, illness or broken down motorcycle.

* We don’t operate the tour for less than 6 guests.

* We do not meet guests at the borders but can arrange a convenient meeting place.

* We don’t want to get in trouble with the police or get speeding tickets so we ask that you particularly observe the speed limits in towns and villages.

* It is your responsibility to make sure your bike is fit and ready for a tour as we won’t detour or cut short the tour if you break down. We will try to help you as we can but we have the rest of the group to consider as well. We also reserve the right to charge for any additional services we agree and have the possibility to provide you with in this case.

Bookings

Please contact us to check availability. We will then send you a Booking Form and details for the deposit payment to secure your place. The deposit per person is £200.

Payment

Payment should be made to our bank account in the UK. Upon receipt of your booking form we will send you the account details for you to make the payment.

Confirmation

After receiving the payment of the deposit we will send you a booking confirmation with details of the balance due which must be paid eight weeks prior to departure. Failure to pay the balance when due may result in cancellation of your booking. Payment in full is required for a booking made less than eight weeks prior to departure.

Cancellation Charges

If you wish to cancel a Tour booking the following cancellation charges will apply:

Period of notice: Charge:
More than 6 weeks Deposit per person
4 – 6 weeks 50% of total cost per person
2-4 weeks 75% of total cost per person
Less than 2 weeks 100% of total cost per person

In the event a tour has to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control i.e. major force events (e.g. war, threat of war, terrorist activity, natural disasters etc.) or in the event we have to cancel because you have not paid the balance of the booking cost then no compensation payments will be made.

Because we will ride Transalpine and Transfagarasan roads at heights over 2000 m there is a possibility at the beginning of the season parts of these two roads might still be covered in snow and we might have to modify the itinerary accordingly. If this is the case we will let you know and if you no longer wish to participate we will rebook your tour.

Your Responsibilities

You must be in possession of a valid passport and make yourself aware of the border conditions for your nationality. You must bring the originals of your driver’s licence, insurance certificate and registration document. It is a legal requirement to carry these papers with your bike.

Please check in advance whether your insurance covers you riding in Romania. You should also have European cover for breakdown and repatriation of your bike, yourself and any pillion. This cover should also include the costs of any hire vehicle required.

You must have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in the event that you need medical treatment.

You should also arrange suitable travel insurance to cover cancellation of your holiday and repatriation in the event of illness or accident.

It is your responsibility to make sure your bike is fit and ready for a tour with a minimum legal tyre tread of 1.6 mm. Experts recommend changing the tyres when they reach a minimum thread of 3 mm.

Our Responsibilities

We will do anything within our power and control to honour the tour itinerary. We cannot be held responsible for anything beyond our control e.g. the unavailability of any amenities or the closure of any attractions. We’ll do our best to have alternatives available if need be.

We will forward your dietary requirements to the hotels but the preparation of meals is the hotels’ responsibility.

The back-up support vehicle is our courtesy to you and provided in good faith, but we cannot be held responsible should the vehicle break down or become unavailable due to vandalism, theft or any other unforeseen event.

The support vehicle is at your disposal but will be carrying your luggage at your sole risk. Motoride Transylvania cannot be held responsible for its loss or damage whilst carried in the back-up vehicle. We also cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to luggage or the contents thereof caused due to searches by authorised bodies (Customs, Police etc.)

The support vehicle might not always be able to keep up with the motorcycles or it might get caught in traffic or other circumstances beyond our control and Motoride Transylvania cannot be held responsible for late arrival of luggage and personal items.

Other than in exceptional circumstances pillions cannot travel in the back-up vehicle.

In the event of an accident the appropriate course of action will be taken. This may involve a delay to the tour in the event that the emergency services are needed. If any of us are involved or have to remain at the scene you may have to continue unaccompanied. We will provide maps and detailed indications to make sure you are able to do so. Your patience and understanding will be appreciated while we regroup and continue the tour as quickly as possible.
